Amazing hosts, great property and the ultimate burger

It’s all been said before, but I reckon it can’t harm to say this over again once more, the guys at Marriott sure know how to make you feel welcome, their hotels provide for an exceptional stay, you simply must love the Marriott Revive bedding and the Marriott burger is one heck of a burger (in fact it’s Danno of dc approved). So much for the overall assessment of our friends at Marriott.

A point in case for their great hospitality is that they actually like having us people from lastminute.com come back. Not so long ago they were brave enough to host one of our meetings in the Courtyard by Marriott Paris Defense West – Colombes. We loved our stay there and you can read more about it here. Today’s delegation, comprising of the honourable Jo Collins of the Europe Hotel Experts, our beloved MRS Gemma Francis Bacon (couldn’t help myself) of the Scotland Hotel Experts, fabulous Julie Daniel of the Paris Hotel Experts, Chris V, Michal S and myself, were privileged guests at the Marriott Paris Rive Gauche. The property enjoys a cracking location on the outer fringe of the Latin Quarter and Saint Germain des Pres area. It combines the best of both worlds of these Left Bank districts. You’re just outside the over-run and hectic tourist areas and a comfortable walking distance away from reaching them. The Paris Metro runs past right outside the hotel (hold it you say: what do you mean, you can see the underground passing by just outside your window? Well, in fact this is an overhead section of the n°6 line which coincidentally whisks you directly to the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees!). There you go, told you this is a great location.

So what about the rooms? Dear friends, remember, you’re at a Marriott. This means you’ll find them to be well over the average size of a 4* Paris hotel. On top of this great surface area, you’ll be happy to hear, several rooms were entirely renovated recently. If you’re lucky enough to get yourself checked in to a room with a city view, you’ll sure be able to take some spectacular shots for your souvenir album, featuring no more and no less than the “Dame de Fer” as we endearingly call the Eiffel Tower in French. Need I point out, you’ll enjoy a divine sleep in your Marriott Revive® bedding with down comforter, custom duvet, crisp linen and plush pillows. Jo certainly can attest for it, pain killers, or not.

As I had the occasion to point out today, we love our food at lastminute.com. So I cannot sign off without any mention to the 70s inspired R’Yves Great Room concept which combines a European brasserie, cocktail bar and lounges as well as a take-away counter for guests to enjoy great food in a trendy atmosphere. The hotel restaurant is located on the ground floor, right beside the huge lobby area and I must say, the all-in-one concept of the restaurant cum café cum brasserie cum bar really works. You can chose from a number of atmospheres, where you can float from the classical table and chair concept to a more casual counter and high chair configuration, or if you prefer to lounge you seek the hidden away sofa and coffee table nooks as well as you can time warp yourself back to the 70s by seating yourself in one of the plastic white and orange globe chairs. Food is great and I certify the burger’s a winner, just in case you want to play it safe.

I’m aware Paris is all about food and wine, so if you feel you may need to work out, the Marriott Paris Rive Gauche has partnered up with the World Class Fitness Centre brand, which means you’ll find the biggest and most complete fitness facilities in-house I’ve seen in Paris so far.

It’s all yours to enjoy.
